I’ve always been a dreamer. I dream big. I used to think too big. My brain explodes with ideas and possibilities. When I became a Speech Therapist I felt like I found my purpose. And it only made me dream bigger and wider.
After working for only 3 years, a little speechie who has NO CLUE what the real world is like. I already felt stifled. I felt my dreams being suffocated by what “should” be done. By what’s “normally” done. By what’s easier and simpler. Being told no over and over again was dousing my passion.
I was tired of seeing clinicians treating diagnoses. Why aren’t we treating the people? Why aren’t we treating the families involved? When did it become a statistic?
So I started my practice to do what I wanted. Where the ethos is patient and family-centered intervention with a strong emphasis on empowering patients and families through education. I want them to feel heard. I want them to know this is a place where you safely feel anything you’d want. And have a voice.
So now here I am. Deep in the hustle. Because I’m crazy and like to jump off the deep end where I can’t see the bottom. It’s hard. So hard. But I pray it’ll pay off because I love my work and I am so motivated to make a difference.
And I hope, so deeply, that I’m able to empower clinicians, patients and caregivers alike. That we can all grow, adapt and dream together.
So that’s me…
